Today, I'm inviting you to help us in our research and lobbying activities by quantifying the litter from your collection and entering the data on the Report Form.

What's the Report Form? 📝

The Report Form is a short document to be filled in at the end of your collection which shows the type and quantity of litter picked up during the event.

This quantification is essential as it is fed into our scientific database and gives added weight to our claims.

It's thanks to Ocean Initiatives organisers that we now know that cigarette butts are the number 1 litter item found on our beaches and in our lakes and rivers. 🚬

What does it involve for you __PRENOM__ ?

At the end of your collection, you just need to sort the litter collected by category so it can be counted more easily.

Then, simply record the numbers on your Report Form.

There are two types of Report Forms and an application:

💧 Simplified Report Form : if it's your first time as an organiser, I recommend you opt for this file. You'll just need to fill in some information about the place, the characteristics of your collection, and the number of cigarette butts you've picked up.

💧💧 Intermediary Report Form : If you want to go further to help science progress and force the plastic industry to make changes, then the Intermediate Report Form is the one for you. You can sort your litter into 34 different categories and help us identify specific litter.

💧💧💧 The Marine Litter Watch app: if you're an experienced organiser and you want a real challenge while taking part in a widescale European initiative, then the Marine Litter Watch app is what you need. You can sort your waste into no fewer than 230 categories, as part of a detailed scientific protocol.
