Let's Clean Up Europe! The first edition of the European Clean Up Day organised by Surfrider Foundation Europe took place on May 10, 2014. The European clean up day aimed to gather already existing initiatives in terms of awareness-raising for the issue of litter around a single European-sized clean up day impacting Europe. Its objective is to place the question of litter on the European agenda and to raise European citizen's awareness on this subject. In Brussels, a group of 10 students, Dixtuor, from the conservatory played at Flagey square to announce the awareness-raising activity on aquatic litter that afternoon, and to invite passers-by to participate in a collection action on the banks of Ixelles pond.
