Since 2005, we have recommended a particular method for identifying and recording the volume of waste you collect from beaches, lakes and rivers during Ocean Initiatives. Your results will be recorded in an innovative study designed to alert public opinion. It is therefore very important to follow this method so that we can present our results in the most credible and meaningful way possible – yet one more argument in our fight against pollution!
Why does it matter?
The information you send us will be recorded by a Waste Observatory set up by the Mer-Terre (Sea-Land) association. The purpose of this type of strategy is to integrate your data into an observatory specifically designed to monitor macro-waste in an aquatic environment, and bringing together all those who collect this type of information (divers, watersports groups, aquaculturalists, etc.). Together we can alert our fellow-citizens and authorities of the extent of this pollution and endeavour to get it reduced.
You can see the results of our campaign on our website, www.surfrider-europe.org.
What procedure to follow
You simply need to complete the Waste Record Form shown below. It is essential that you return this form as it will enable us to obtain precise results on the nature and quantity of waste collected. It must be completed by the person responsible for organising your clean-up, and then returned by post to Surfrider Foundation Europe.
